Curiosities and Insights about the Making of Midnight Rush: Living on the Edge

The idea for Midnight Rush: Living on the Edge came from a dream I had—a lavish and haunting dream I wished would never end. In this dream, I saw myself in the underground as part of a daunting, free, and powerful group of beings who walked in the shadows to find the light. The possibilities were unfathomable.

I finished writing the story around 2009–2010, but it wasn't until 2026 that I revisited the text and edited it to my liking. The story takes place in London, and there is a specific reason for this. Growing up in England as a child, London appealed to my senses as an ocean of greater, unexpressed potential. Everything there—from the punk scene to the excessive number of pigeons in Trafalgar Square and the Tube—seemed wholly mysterious and darkly magical.

To me, Midnight Rush: Living on the Edge, speaks of a new, greater understanding of what it means to be human in this world and age, and what it means to evolve past limitations. Although it may read at first like an urban fantasy novel for young adults, I wouldn’t discard it as purely that. Instead, I invite you to take a closer look at the deeper truth it evokes.
